Ok, so now we are all churning out Videos for SEO? Looks like these files do not need to be hosted with the search engine. Good!

Last Saturday I met a cool guy on an Open Source conference in Germany, who is developing a lot of web applications based on drupal (the same app I am using here for my blog) and we talked a bit about SEO from the coders point of view.

If you search for some terms in Google, you might saw it: "Supplemental Result". This "tag" is going to vanish soon from the actual index, but the meaning of it remains:

Every 3 to 3.5 months, google updates its famous Pagerank value, which you can see, if you enable it in the Google toolbar. Yet not so important for high ranking as many think, it is still a good indicator, if you site has the POTENTIAL to rank high.

A lot of friends and customers are contacting me, because there is a renaissance around the value of domains.

I honestly believe, that these stories are rare and seldom.

On this domain (bitclix) we have started a blogging platform about 1.5 years ago. After about 6 months, people started spamming us with all kind of adult or gambling links. I tried hard to keep up and prevent that crap with CAPTCHA (the little images you must type in, when posting), but it did not help!

Today is the last day of SMX search conference in Seattle - initiated by Danny Sullivan himself. Too bad, that I live on the other side of the globe, so I can not go to every conference I like. Next one will be pubcon in December, and I look forward to that one.

Are you a conference guy (or girl)? It is really hard to find the time and power to code, promote AND fly thru the world.

One of the most important tools for SEO is the link development to your site. Matt Cutts pointed out, that Google will try to recognize paid links and discount them in power. So you can see, that there are a lot of people trying to trick the search engines with manipulated links.

A common rule is: every link counts! But if you can get named links (links that point to you with the keywords you look after), those count even more! Try to avoid spammy neighbours and get as many links as possible...

If you look at the TOP 20 list of Alexa, you will find 18 sites with less than 10 characters in the domain name. Only 2 have 10 characters, none has more.

Is that a coincidence? I do not think so. In my opinion are short domain names a signal that the site might be mass usable. That is of course not the case, but maybe people like to think that and click those more!

Minimalistic Google showed the world, that simple is beautiful - maybe this fact is another hint, that human beings love simple things, life is complicated enough.
